Protect your Improv Mind, and also - Jam with Jenice - #52
Newsletter #52 is written just for you. I rhyme only when in the mood.
Greetings improv friends!
It’s the 52nd newsletter, and it’s now coming at you from ImprovUpdate.com (formerly known as Flat Improv). It’s the same Improv Update from Flat Improv, just coming from its own domain. No other changes.
I know this week is a wild one for many of you (I write and schedule these in advance, so at the time of writing it’s prior to the impending wild). If you need to take breaks, take them. It’s important! And that is the theme of the video I’ve linked and embedded below. Protecting your mind.
It’s absolutely not political at all (maybe it will help with that break tho!), but it includes suggestions (not demands!) for protecting your mind in comedy spaces such as improv. Especially if your brain is wired in a statistically atypical way. In these spaces, taking breaks is one form of keeping your health as a priority.
Which is important for me, at least.
In this week's newsletter you will find:
Suggestions for Protecting your mind in Comedy & Improv in video, podcast, or written versions
A fun online improv jam with Jenice
Podcasts & Shows
This episode provides general suggestions to comedians, especially neurodivergent ones like us autistic and ADHD actors in comedy and improv, to protect our minds while engaging in comedy and with others in the community.
Checking in on yourself, in whatever spaces you’re participating in, is pretty good for mental health. These ten suggestions should be relevant beyond comedy communities, and will apply to people who aren't neurodivergent too. So even if you aren't autistic, for example, these should be relevant and hopefully somewhat useful.

Fact or Word of the Week
As per usual, here's yet another fact or word of the week…. this week we have a word.
WORD: Catacoustics….this is the science of echoes (or, reflected sound if you prefer to call echoes that).
